King's Bay

A long, sheltered bay with dark sand on the Atlantic side, east of Roxborough. You reach it through the village of Delaford.

Pavilions stand on the beach, with changing rooms and a small café behind them. The water lies calm in the bay. Now and then fishermen haul in a net here; discovertnt mentions seine fishing at King's Bay. On the Atlantic side, where mostly nobody keeps watch, Rough Guides counts King's Bay among the beaches with lifeguards.

sources differ

The sources do not fully agree. The tourism agency (2022), discovertnt and Rough Guides mention lifeguards, plus toilets, showers and cabanas; Rough Guides counts six pavilions. The beach site Sandee, on the other hand, writes of limited amenities and no lifeguards. So check whether the post is staffed before you swim.

Since 2020 King's Bay has held Blue Flag pilot status, together with Mount Irvine Bay and Bloody Bay. The tourism agency is still working towards the full award. In the 2023/24 season the Blue Flag in Tobago went only to two boat operators. The oil spill of early February 2024 did not reach the bay, according to the tourism agency.
