Where you stay in Tobago shapes the whole holiday. In the south-west around Crown Point the airport, Store Bay and Pigeon Point are close together. The north coast and Speyside are quieter, but without a hire car you will hardly get around. Which village suits you is on the villages page.

These places appear in the Tobago Tourism Agency's directory and show offers for 2025 or 2026 on their own websites. You book them direct. We list them because our partner does not carry them at the moment; we earn nothing from them.
North coast
- Castara Retreats, Castara: 17 self-catering lodges on the hillside above the village, with a restaurant and a yoga pavilion. Breakfast is left out on purpose, so guests go down into the village.
- Beres Vale Apartments, Castara: Seven rooms in the hills above Castara.
- Nature Retreats Tobago, Parlatuvier: Wooden cabins in the forest above the bay at Parlatuvier.
- Cholson Chalets, Charlotteville: Six units in three old wooden houses right on Man o' War Bay in Charlotteville.
Speyside
- Manta Lodge, Speyside: Owned by the island government, reopened in September 2024 after years of renovation. Sources give the number of rooms as 20, 22 or 24.
West coast
- Plantation Beach Villas, Black Rock: Colonial-style villas right on Stonehaven Bay.
- Top O' Tobago, Plymouth: Main house with three studios on a ridge off the road to Arnos Vale.
- Mount Irvine Bay Resort, Mount Irvine: 80 rooms on a former sugar and coconut plantation. Whether the golf course is in play in 2026 is unclear, so ask before you book.
NoteSome listings for holiday homes and villas on Tobago have no house behind them. The Trinidad Express reported on visitors who paid deposits for villas that did not exist. Only pay once you have found the property through the tourism agency's directory or a platform with buyer protection.
When to book early
Carnival in October is the tightest. Before the 2024 carnival the hotel association reported occupancy of up to 100 percent, with small places fully booked and large ones at 70 to 100 percent. Over Easter, when the goats race in Buccoo, occupancy in 2026 was around 80 to 85 percent. What ran short then were seats on the ferry and flights, the hotel association said. Rough Guides gives mid-December to mid-April as the high season.
Taxes and surcharges
Hotels charge a hotel accommodation tax of ten percent. For guests not resident in the country, hotel stays are zero-rated for VAT according to PwC (as of June 2026). More expensive hotels add a ten percent service charge, Rough Guides says, while guesthouses and small B&Bs usually do not (as of 2021). Check before you book whether the price already includes both.

Where should divers stay in Tobago?
In Speyside in the north-east, close to the reefs off Little Tobago. Blue Waters Inn on Batteaux Bay and the Manta Lodge, which reopened in September 2024 after a long renovation, are both there.
